King Mackerel Fishing Charters St Petersburg | Daybreaker Inshore Charters

Hey everybody, it's Captain Matt Hilliard here with Daybreaker Inshore Charters out of St. Petersburg. Sixth generation fisherman, born and raised on these tides. My family's been chasing fish from Tampa Bay down through the Gulf for longer than most folks can remember. King mackerel fishing? Man, I've been after these silver rockets since I was a kid helping my dad load the boat before sunrise.

Down here we get some serious runs of kings, especially in the spring and fall when the bait balls up thick. Late March through May, and then again September into November, that's when things really fire off near the beaches and passes. Think Egmont Channel, the hard bottom off Clearwater Pass, or right around the Skyway Bridge area. Even in summer you can find them a little further out if the water's right, but those cooler shoulder seasons? That's when the bigger ones show up chewing up everything in sight.

I hate seeing these big charter outfits just blasting through the same spots with a dozen people crammed on board. My 22-foot boat keeps it personal. Four anglers max. We slow troll live bait like cigar minnows, pilchards, or threadfins right where the kings are feeding. Wire leaders are a must. Those teeth will chew through mono in a heartbeat. We'll hit the edges of the channels, the drop-offs, anywhere the current's pushing bait. I've watched it a hundred times. Get the boat moving just right at 4 to 6 knots and boom, double hookups.

Kids love it too. Nothing beats that scream when a king smokes the line and starts peeling drag. We keep things safe, USCG licensed and insured, and adjust every trip. New to fishing? I'll show you the ropes. Seasoned angler wanting to put some meat in the cooler? I know exactly where they've been hanging lately. St. Pete, Clearwater, Largo, Pinellas, even folks coming over from Tampa or Seminole. We're right here in the heart of it.

What makes us different? Real roots. No corporate fluff. I read the water the way my granddad taught me. Wind out of the east in the morning, incoming tide, birds working. That's the ticket. We've pulled some solid kings right near Johns Pass and the grass flats turning into deeper water. People come back year after year because we put 'em on fish and send 'em home with stories and pictures worth showing off.

If you're searching for king mackerel charters near St. Petersburg, Tampa Bay inshore fishing trips, or family kingfish charters in Florida, give us a shout. I'll get you taken care of. Book direct, keep it simple, and let's go make some memories on the water. These fish won't wait around forever.
