How Many People Can Go on a Fishing Charter in St. Petersburg, FL?

A lot of folks call or message asking how many people can go on a fishing charter down here. Real simple on my boat. Up to four anglers max.

I run a twenty two foot Exuma center console out of St. Petersburg and the greater Tampa Bay area. USCG licensed and insured. I keep the numbers small on purpose. Four people gives everybody room to move around, cast clean, and actually fish instead of stepping over each other the whole day.

Inshore fishing around here is not the same as those big offshore party boats. We work skinny grass flats off Fort De Soto, tight mangrove edges at Weedon Island, or the passes and bays near the Skyway and Boca Ciega. Wind picks up fast in Tampa Bay and that chop can turn a crowded deck into a mess real quick. I have watched groups of five or six try to squeeze on boats this size. Lines cross, folks bump into each other, and half the trip gets spent untangling instead of putting baits where the fish are.

What I hate seeing is some of these bigger outfits that max out every trip no matter the conditions or what kind of day the customers actually want. They get more heads on the boat but the quality drops. People end up frustrated because they never really got to work the fish right. Down here the tide and weather can shift in an hour. A smaller group lets me move us around quiet, read the water better, and put each person on the right spot without extra noise spooking the school.

Families with kids or a couple buddies looking for a good day do best with three or four total. Plenty of space for the little ones to learn without chaos. Serious anglers appreciate it too because they get more shots at slot reds and snook tight to the structure.

If your crew is bigger than that I will tell you straight and we can figure out options or split trips.
