Hey folks, Captain Matt Hilliard here with Daybreaker Inshore Charters out of St. Petersburg. Sixth generation on these waters. Folks ask what equipment we provide because they've seen other charters cut corners and it ruins trips when the gear fails on a good fish. Not here.

On my 22 foot boat I provide rods and reels for the crew. Seven to seven and a half foot spinning setups with 3000 reels, braid and fluoro. Backbone for reds on Fort De Soto flats and snook in Weedon mangroves, sensitive for trout on the grass. Tackle box stocked with soft plastics, topwaters, jigs and solid terminal gear that holds up in our salt and sun. No cheap stuff that chews up quick.

Bait is included. Live shrimp, pinfish, mullet fresh when possible, frozen backup. Safety gear is full and current. Life jackets for adults and kids, throwable, extinguisher, first aid, signals. Storms roll in fast over Tampa Bay so it's all checked. Fish finder, GPS, livewell and cooler space on board. I'll clean your catch at the end of the day.

Bring sunscreen, a hat, polarized sunglasses and a cooler for drinks and food. Light jacket for when the wind picks up. Comfortable shoes. Our FWC charter license covers everyone's fishing license.

I maintain the gear myself because these waters are hard on it and I've seen what happens when captains cheap out. Small groups keep it reliable with spares ready.
